Yaa Gyasi, a graduate of the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop, is the author of "Homegoing", a New York Times best seller and one of the most talked about novels of 2016. Gyasi's debut novel moves through histories and geographies as it follows two African half-sisters- one sold into slavery, the other married to a British officer. The book spans more than 200 years, tracing the generations of family that follow. The result is a timely, riveting portrayal of the global African Diaspora, and the after effects that linger on to this day.
