An evening with Yaa Gyasi

7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Event Details

Yaa Gyasi, a graduate of the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop, is the author of "Homegoing", a New York Times best seller and one of the most talked about novels of 2016.  Gyasi's debut novel moves through histories and geographies as it follows two African half-sisters- one sold into slavery, the other married to a British officer.  The book spans more than 200 years, tracing the generations of family that follow.  The result is a timely, riveting portrayal of the global African Diaspora, and the after effects that linger on to this day.

Registration is required and begins Feb. 25.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission.

Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Library will have priority seating and are invited to a pre-event reception and book signing that will begin at 6 p.m.  A separate registration is required for the Friends reception and is available here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/friends-author-reception-with-yaa-gyasi-tickets-31685531277.
