Dr. Vanessa Holden of the University of Kentucky discusses kindship and family and how these forces thrived during the Southampton Rebellion. Dr. Holden will discuss these themes and others from her forthcoming book “Surviving Southampton: African American Women and Resistance in Nat Turner's Community.”  Registration beings Feb. 1.  This program will be available for 30 days after its premiere date.

Chesterfield County and Virginia State University celebrate Black History Month with programs that illustrate the African-American experience.
