us in a discussion of Elizabeth Rush’s “Rising: Dispatches From the New
American Shore” which explores the impact climate change and rising sea levels
have on coastal communities. “Rising”
was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction. A limited number of copies of the book will
be given away to participants. “Rising: Dispatches From the New American Shore”
is the 2021 VCU Common Book, a program that allows first-year students the opportunity
to explore complex social issue through an interdisciplinary lens. This discussion will be led by Thaddeus
Fortney, Assistant Professor with the Department of Focused Inquiry. Join VCU for a public and virtual discussion with
