Self-expression through Chinese Calligraphy

Discover the artform of Chinese calligraphy. Dr. Jing Shui from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts presents a workshop that focuses on building a better understanding and appreciation of Chinese calligraphy. Attendees will create their own pieces of art to take home with them. This program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is funded, in part, by the Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund. Registration begins April 13.

Bharatha Natyam: Introduction to Indian Classical Dance

Experience Bharatha Natyam, a classical dance style of India, in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Internationally known artist Padmarani Rasiah Cantu will showcase her colorfully costumed student demonstration, followed by a workshop. Participants will learn beautiful movements, as well as special hand gestures and facial expressions, that are the hallmark of Bharatha Natyam. The program concludes with a Q&A session. Registration begins April 13.
